Vauxhall takeover raises concern for UK jobs
Thousands of UK workers are at risk of losing their jobs over the recent collapse of General Motors (GM), the biggest car manufacturing company in America. The company has filed for bankruptcy in the US, leaving the future of all its staff uncertain. GM Europe, which consists of UK brand Vauxhall and the German Opel, has already been sold off to Magna International, a Canadian car parts company. But although this means that both the British and German brands will continue production, a fall in demand for car sales and car leasing deals could mean that Magna will be making significant job cuts.
The concern for Vauxhall’s workers comes because Magna is a relatively new company in the UK, with ties to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska’s vans company and Sberbank, a Russian bank. This has led to speculation that production at Vauxhall’s Luton plant, a joint venture with Renault where Trafic and Vivara vans are made, could be moved to Russia, leaving the Luton’s 1,400 workers without jobs. The German government also had a part to play in ensuring that the takeover was a success, causing worries that the Opel factories and workers may be protected as a priority and that if cutbacks in production and staff were necessary, it would have to happen in the UK. However this is all speculation at this point as Magna have made no promises yet and have made it clear that they will do everything in their power to protect as many jobs as possible in all areas.
For Vauxhall’s 5,500 UK workers, all they can do is to remain hopeful that the company will recover quickly after the takeover by Magna, who obtained the company over other potential buyers including Italian car manufacturer Fiat. Car leasing and car sales will need to improve soon for the decision to keep factories open to be viable. In the meantime for buyers interested in purchasing a car from Vauxhall, car leasing could be a better option as it enables you to choose from a wider range of vehicles, and is less likely to leave you in a difficult position if the company suffers any further disaster in the future.

Where To Find Dirt Cheap Used Audi
Over the past few years I have seen very favourable reviews of Audi cars on programmes like Top Gear. I decided that I wanted to invest in one, but due to the depreciation of new cars at the moment, I chose to buy a Used Audi from my local Sytner Dealership. I was presented with a fantastic choice of cars and took my time to pick the right one. After a few test drives and much deliberation I decided to drive away with a Used Audi TT. The Audi TT is a perfect car for those who like the sportiness of roadsters, but enjoy the practicalities of saloon cars. The Used Audi TT supplies you with all the motoring pleasure you could wish for.
The very first time I drove my Used Audi TT I knew I would never find a better car. The smoothness of the drive was matched by the urgency of the powerful engine. I felt safe; cocooned within the tough body that has passed all of Audi’s rigorous safety tests. I also felt as though I was driving a luxury car or something. The interior of the Used Audi TT has been designed to a very high specification and makes the driver or passenger feel as though they are inside a considerably more expensive car. I thoroughly enjoy every driving experience I have in my Used Audi TT regardless of how I am feeling.
I still cannot believe I found this car for such a reasonable price. With only 4,000 on the clock, my Used Audi TT will guarantee me years of driving amazement and gives me the feel of driving a luxury car even though I paid a far from luxurious price for it. I would recommend Sytner Used Audi for anyone looking for a cheap Used Audi TT or any other Used Audi model.
Buying a Car Online
Lots of people browse the internet, find a apparently problem less car and bid on it even it has just a few minutes left, never giving the bid a second thought and never considering the fact that they do have to buy it after all. When you are bidding in an online auction, it doesn’t mean that you should no stick to your bids just because they are digital. The custom buyer agreement you are agreeing to before joining an auction site is a legal contract as good as ay other in the eyes of the law. In this agreement you can clearly read all conditions you should meet in order to keep your membership and also, the legal implications of any and all bids posted. So maybe, once in a while , it would be a good idea to actually read what we agree to do before clicking NEXT.
Carefully inform yourself of the following before placing bids online:
- The fact that you buy what you see in pictures, without really seeing the car for real. Of course, they are followed by a detailed description, phone numbers, an address and so on. If you want to buy a certain type of car, let’s say a used lebaron Chrysler car, then make sure you have on the right information, and then read the seller’s description. If you happen to live in the car’s vicinity, then you can go and see it in person. It’s the foreign cars that rise eyebrows. And, unfortunately, these are the cars that can make great buys. The problem can be attenuated by calling the owner and discussing over phone all details related to the car and its problems.
- People placing bids without paying attention are also a problem. Don’t try to lie now, everyone has done it and so did you. People always think that another interested buyer will place a higher bid. This is a childish belief, because every bid should be done with self-awareness, because it can be the winning one.
- Some cars have incomplete descriptions, left like this by mistake or because they are trying to hide something. These cars, even if they are very cheap, constitute a great risk. Try to gather as much information about that vehicle as you can, but checking it , over the phone or online, based on its number.
- Fake bids that are automated and only intend to raise prices. You are not crazy if you think it’s a bit odd when someone places a bit just when you think you’ve on, making you place a bigger one. Don’t place additional bids if you feel something is wrong, because some unfair buyers use friends accounts to place additional bids, when they don’t like the price they are offered.
- Car location and transportation. If the car is in China and you live in America, driving for tens of thousands of miles just to take it home can prove very costly, so do appreciate the shipping or transportation costs properly before placing a bid on a cheap car.
Expensive Cars Can Be Cheap Sometimes
There’s no person on earth that wouldn’t like to have his or hers own personalized car, that makes a real statement when you are cursing down the street. Don’t be thinking of regular new cars that are exceptionally beautiful. The cars I’m talking about are those personalized cars that are unrecognizable after the makeover. I’m talking about cars you see on TV shows, those extraordinary cars that either have more horse power that you can count or present a fabulous paint and fancy interiors. These cars usually sell in auctions, because sellers want to show them off and see how much people appreciate their work. Prices vary a lot, and in this case they are not based as much on quality as they are on reputation. But these auctions also attract car producers that are no as famous. There are plenty other car workshops that produce excellent customizing around the world. And cars that come from these small workshops are equally glamorous as famous cars personalized by famous names in the business, even if the number sold in one year is very low.
Sometimes, luxurious car auctions are held and they try to attract only customers with money or automobile dealerships. You can find all about location, duration and emplacement of these auctions by simply browsing the net, as it is now the most resourceful media type. It’s a whole new world revealed when you enter such a car auction, so if you can, go, even if you are sure you can’t afford anything. The chances are that sellers witch produce luxury cars but are not famous in the field will also try to enter the event. The thing about these great cars is that , if you decide to bid on them, you won’t have much concurrency form rich customers, as those will only be interested in the very expensive cars. You can also orientate towards luxurious cars sold by individuals, like used imperial Chrysler and this cars will also don’t offer much concurrency, so there’s a good chance of getting a good price.
It’s worth the chance to place a bid on a superb car, you might be even buying it for the price of a second hand one. You might even end up going home with a car fit for a rock star, just because you decided to spend $1000 in a car auction.

Automotive expectations in the east are good, and Chinese people still are buying cars. But just 10% of the Chinese public is driving or owning a car. What would you think this will do to the environment if all Chinese own one or two cars. Luckily the Chinese government is trying to get people to buy only clean cars and reward it with half the taxes as would be payed normally.
Sales of the BMW brand automobiles in the Chinese Mainland increased by 14.four percent to 15,850 units, which includes 8,402 units BMW 3 Series and 5 Series cars produced locally in China. We achieved again double-digit growth for BMW and MINI vehicles sales for the first quarter, and relatively strong growth of 20.4% in March. Our new generation 7 Series will be one of the strong contributors to our sales success throughout the year in China” said Dr. Christoph Stark, President and CEO of BMW Group Region China.

Audi R8, the classic car of the future?
More of these articles and much more automotive news can be found on: Automotive News
With its win in the sports car category of the readers’ poll “Classics of the Future 2009,” the Audi R8 mid-engine sports car underlines just what a positive impact it has on the Audi brand’s image, as perceived by classic car fans. Most of the participating readers of classic car magazine “Motor Klassik” chose the R8 as the current sports car with the greatest potential for becoming a future classic.
This is the fourth time that this election occurred. Alongside 78 models from 1979, some of which have already become genuine classics, readers were also able to choose from 168 current models in seven categories. “This endorses our decision to follow up the Audi TT with a particularly emotion-stirring mid-engine sports car. In keeping with this special prize, the Audi R8 can now also be ordered with another classic, a 10-cylinder engine,” says Michael-Julius Renz, Head of Sales Germany at AUDI AG. Renz thanked the readers and editorial team of “Motor Klassik” as he collected the prize yesterday evening in an appropriate setting at the historical automotive location in Stuttgart.
With its third place, the Audi A6 scored a further success for the brand with the four rings in the category “full-size car of the modern age.” The “Classics of the Future” prize is awarded every two years.

The New And Improved Saturn SC2
Saturn SC2 is the short name from the sports coupe level of the first division of the Saturn auto produced at the beginning of the 90s. The launching of the S Series by General Motors was a marketing stratagem to diminish the influence of the Japanese imports on the American market. After Saturn SC2 became a market hit, Japan and Taiwan actually began imports of these vehicles on their markets, which only proves that the reputation GM got for the Saturn S Series was not void of content. Though no spectacular adjustments were made to the Saturn SC2 in time, the year 1999 saw the biggest of upgrades.
Saturn SC2 got a little lateral door often called the suicide door on the side of the driver. In the case of the SC design, this additional feature was a big change as it was a welcome innovation in the manufacturing of sports cars. Only cab pickup trucks had such a lateral door, and no other regular vehicle use one. Saturn SC2 was produced with little modifications afterwards until 2003 when General Motors replaced the S Series and launched their new sports car, Saturn Ion. The production of this latter model also came to a halt in 2007 as well when GM tried a different market approach.
Saturn SC2 was also remarkable by the manual transmission that triggered a very efficient fuel consume. One gallon of gas was enough for forty miles according to the ratings and the data in the Saturn SC2 car highway tests. This initial engine was rated at only 124 horsepower, but in 1995 improvements became necessary to the initial SC model: thus, the producer incorporated a lid reflector in the trunk and further added a lower front bumper; yet the cabin decorations were not neglected either. It was the second generation of Saturn SC2 that saw changes in exterior concept that now focused on rather curve lines.
Reviews claim that Saturn SC2 was not very different from SC1, the latter only got black outside mirrors while the SC2 variant remained with colored ones. Saturn SC2 came with standard fog lamps, anti-break lock was optional and it also had some kind of traction control. Then, as for the manual transmission, Saturn SC2 and SC1 were identical, and the same similarity remained in the dashboard look, in the wheelbase structure and in the dayltime lights. The improvements of Saturn SC2 were inspired by the sedan and station wagon models produced by General Motors.
So whether you doing comparing car rentals or you are in the market for a new car purchase, you cant go wrong with the Saturn Sc2.
The New Volkswagen Golf MkVI - The Legacy Continues
It is almost impossible to imagine the world without certain things in it. Try to imagine a world when the Rolling Stones aren’t embarking on another world tour despite having the combined age of the Methuselah Tree, or a year without a Simon Cowell produced talent show on television. It’s impossible isn’t it? Certain objects/people/events are ingrained on our national conscience and if you were to take them away, everything would just seem…well…odd I guess. This is tantamount how I feel about the Volkswagen Golf.
I have a long history with the VW Golf, as my Grandfather owner one in my formative years and ferried me and my brother around in it quite a lot. I have very fond memories of this car which have remained with me right into my adulthood. On the surface though, the VW Golf isn’t exactly breathtaking, it’s boxy, cumbersome and not to mention quite a bit more expensive than most of its competition. So exactly where the does this abiding love affair with the VW Golf stem from and how has it endured for so long?
It was over 35 years ago when the Volkswagen Golf first made its appearance and it has been a consistently popular seller ever since. The evolution of the VW Golf has been a joy to witness over the decades, as the car has gone from looking like it was designed by an artistically-challenged child, to the sleek, rounded and aesthetically pleasing models we see today. Its popularity stems from its honesty and it reserve; two traits the British public seem to lap up in their people and cars. The VW Golf doesn’t try to be flashy, or gimmick-ridden, but it does everything it’s supposed to with elegance and panache. Considering it is a German car, it is very British.
The Brand New Volkswagen Golf Mark VI comes with a choice of four petrol engines and three diesel engines. My personal pick of the bunch is the twin-charged 1.4Litre Petrol which produces 160Bhp which is unbelievably good for a car of this size. Driving this car is unlike the experience of the previous model Golf (the Mark V), as it adds an element that its predecessor was lacking slightly; thrills. Other than the GTi models, the Golf has never been considered a very exciting drive. It has been described as safe, comfortable, economic and ecological but never exciting or exhilirating. The supercharged and turbocharged 1.4 litre engine feels raw, edgy and above all, very excitable. All of a sudden the VW Golf seems a lot less British after all.
Essentially, the Volkswagen Golf Mk VI has retained everything that the consuming public loved about the car since its initial inception, but they have been treated to a few added extras now. The Golf is still safe, comfortable, economical and ecological, but now it has the capability to force your head back into the headrest and leave you with a silly schoolboy grin on your face. Although the Golf has evolved into the consummate city car, if you take the new Golf out onto country lanes, you will see why I can say with confidence that this is the most impressive the Golf has ever been.
