How Do You Awaken Your “Sixth Sense”?
I used to think that the phrase “sixth sense” was a bit nonsensical. It wasn’t until things started happening that I couldn’t explain with my rational mind that I bgan to think more deeply about the topic.
I began asking myself more interesting questions…
If we all possess five senses and we use them extensively, then what is the sixth? Where does it come from? And where is it located?
These questions ran through my mind for years, and I’ve slowly started to piece them together. A lot of people say intuition is located in the ‘crown chakra’ in the middle of the forehead. But I always felt it in my stomach… or as a sort of “knowing.” I didn’t really feel my “sixth sense” in the forehead like others.
Over time, I began to grasp more the meaing of the “sixth sense.” That it wasn’t really a place on my body (though sometimes it manifests as feeling), “sixth sense” is another word for intuition. I’ve also discovered that people called it different names: Hunch, voice in head, gut feeling and so on to name a few.
Partly out of curiosity, and partly out of necessity (feeling like these unexplainable intuitive experiences kept happening) I yearned to explore more about the subject and I read from somewhere that one needs to sharpen the five senses before he could tap in to the sixth. This piece of information not only got me thinking, but it got me working as well.
It wasn’t until then that I considered the possibility that our senses could be sharpened. I always thought that we had our own frequencies, animals had their own and nature was in perfect harmony. Apparently I was incorrect, and intuition could be awakened. In fact, it’s wake up call had to be loud and frequent.
One thing that has been suggested, though I haven’t really followed it as a practice (I sort of did this on my own, anyway), is to switch off lights in the room and study the area around me to identify shapes I see. Then repeat this exercise in different rooms in my house each night. Although at first you might not notice anything significant, you might have a hunch that you’re moving in the right direction. Nightime always seems to be a time when my intuition is easier to hear.
Perhaps this happens when we use all of our physical senses and we can get a little disoriented. Instead, when we focus in on a very specific sense, then we’re much more able to tune out the other stuff… and this allows us to more easily hear our intuition.
Another exercise that can help sharpen auditory skills is to lay in bed at night when everything is quiet and try to listen to the subtle sounds that surrounded you. When I’ve done this, sometimes I experienced what is known as ‘dead silence’ at other times, I’ve heard distance voices and sounds of vehicles. Whenever I heard these sounds, I tried to come up with a mental picture to associate it with.
These intuition awakening exercises are all ones I’ve had to discover on my own, without any real guidance. It’s been a lot of trial and error. Recently, I came across a new program called “The Intuition Zone” and I’ve been reviewing it and going through it to se if it might help me develop my intuition further.
So far it’s been helpful (though I do have my gripes), and I’m looking forward to going through the program more in depth. If you’d like to follow along in my experiences with the program, then be sure to check out my Intuition Zone Review blog.
Never Say "I Told You So!" Again
Don’t you just hate it when someone tells you, “I told you so?” Even more frustrating can be having to tell yourself “I told you so” because you didn’t listen to your own instincts. In order for intuition to be useful, you must know how to awaken and develop it. Everybody can do it, it's just a mater of discovering how.
Learning to develop your intuition is somewhat like learning to understand a foreign language to which you had never been exposed.Intuition is like any other skill: the more you pay attention to it, the easier it is to understand. Each time you confirm your intuition, you understand more easily what it's saying and what it's telling you to do. Eventually, the voice of your intuition will sound as clear and strong as your conscious internal monologue.
It only takes some attention and a true desire to develop your intuition. You do not need to have any super psychic abilities or expensive private formal training. Your personal intuition zone is actually growing stronger simply because you are putting forth the effort to read this article. You are already giving your intuition a dose of the attention and focus required to hone the skill.
There are a few good practices you can put into place when trying to develop your intuition. One is to start spending time with no external distractions. One thing you can do is turn off your stereo and cell phone on your way to work.Take a moment to consciously attempt to hear your intuition. Try to quiet your negative or random thoughts and only hear things that have that seem to well from something deeper.Another way to confirm or deny your intuitive hunches is to write them down and then look back upon them at a later point in time.
When you “hear” your intuition, it may come in forms much more than hearing a voice inside you that tells you some piece of information in words. Your intuition will speak to you in many different forms.Sometimes you'll discover your intuition speaking to you through other means, such as an unexpected craving for food or a small that doesn't have an obvious source.
Remain open and receptive when your intuition directs you to do something, but does not tell you why. The reason why will come when and if it is necessary for you to know. Often the reason why does not immediately become clear even when one day you understand completely. Trust your intuition and never tell yourself “I told you so!” again.
Is Intuition a Reliable Way to Make Decisions?
Have you ever wondered, “Can I trust my intuition when it comes to important decisions?” I bet you have. Most people, even the most rational and scientifically minded experience flashes of intuition. While people in olden days trusted their intuition without question, many of us in the modern, scientific, technological world are uncomfortable trusting our intuition. But just because we’re uncomfortable trusting our intuitive selves, that doesn’t mean we’re doing the right thing. So can you trust your intuition?
For most people, in most situations, the answer is yes, you can trust your intuition. Throughout history, many of the most successful, most spiritual, most effective people have relied heavily on their intuitive side for big decisions. Even in the boardrooms of the largest and most sophisticated corporations, executive rely on their sense of intuition as much or more than they do upon the data and reports the data gives them.
Some people won’t trust their intuition because they don’t understand where it comes from. Some feel that intuition is merely what happens when your subconscious mind processes all the information available to them below the level of conscious awareness. Others know in their hearts that intuition is something non-rational, a source of information that’s beyond our science and technology. Still others believe it is a spiritual force, emanating from whatever power is guiding our universe.
Fortunately, it doesn’t matter where you believe your intuition comes from. All that matters is whether or not you can rely on your intuition to help you. And the answer to that is clear. When they consciously keep track of the messages they receive from their intuition, most people discover that most of the time, the answer their intuition gave them was the right one. That makes intuition a potentially empowering force in your life. All that’s left to do is develop that force to fully benefit from it.
Empowering your intuitive self was once a long and arduous project taking years of study and meditation. Now, with Aine Belton’s Intuition Zone program, you can strengthen your intuition quickly and effectively. Go to http://IntuitionZone.info to learn more.
Intuition, Imagination, and Instinct: Understanding the Differences
Intuition, imagination, and instinct. These are 3 words, three concepts that many people find hard to distinguish between. Let us take a few minutes to clear up that confusion. In this article, I will help you to clarify the differences between the three once and for all, starting with understanding instinct.
Your instincts are your genetic survival drives. Every creature, large or small, that has a nervous system has instincts, as they are basic to the survival of any living creature. They do not require any intelligence, nor do they involve any kind of inspired guidance from your Higher Self. Instincts are nothing more than the basic drives wired into your physiology.
Your imagination is something completely different. It is a powerful creative force driven by your thoughts, desires, and intentions (conscious or not). Your imagination crafts visions towards the manifestation of your reality. While driven by your mind, your imagination uses many of the same deep internal systems as your intuition does as it evokes into being new worlds and possibilities. Your imagination is directed by your will, and is a powerful tool in the conscious creation process.
Through the portal of your imagination, you can experience inspiration and bring forth great acts of creativity. In other words, imagination and inspiration can serve as both the pathway to, and facilitators of, your intuition. When you use your imagination to visualize a place within your mind, you create an ideal internal space from which you can connect to and communicate with your intuitive self, receiving insights and information from your subconscious mind and from your Higher Self.
This means that your imagination is a flexible aid and passageway on the road to your intuitive development. The environments and situations you invoke in your imagination serve as a backdrop and foundation for your intuitive practices. For example, imagination is key to success in guided visualization. It sets the scene and summons from the void an appropriate setting from which you can open yourself higher, more intuitive states of mind that are only accessible through your inner intuitive senses.
Working with your ‘inner realm’ with the aid of your imagination is something that is explored in detail in the Intuition Zone program. If you are prepared to begin this journey, take the first step and visit http://IntuitionZone.info
Your Intuitive Self is an Innate Aspect of Your Total Person
While today’s consensus reality, with its focus on our five senses belittles it, each of us contains an intuitive self in addition to our rational, five-sensory selves. Our intuitive selves are seldom in evidence, as a lifetime of being ignored and doubted tends to silence them. Fortunately for us, this phenomenal innate tool is waiting within you, needing only to be empowered and accepted as an innate part of the totality of your being. If you just listen for it your intuitive self has many ways to communicate with you: through images, words, feelings. Its messages may come in the form of hunches, inspirations, urges, light-bulb moments, epiphanies and other subtle or intense pathways not considered legitimate by many.
Occurrences that are signs of the workings of your innate intuitive self can be things like knowing who is on the phone before you answer it, feelings about people, places, or circumstances that affect your decisions without any rational basis, premonitions, sudden inspiration, hearing a voice within your head, synchronicity and flow, a rock-solid sense of certainty and truth, awareness of subtle energy flows, and other such experiences.
Because the world we live in today is dominated by a focus on the five senses, your awareness of, and ability to communicate with this exceptional part of yourself has been almost completely surpressed and forgotten. Surrounded by people and institutions that lack openness and understanding, rich in cynicism, spiritual disconnection, fact-based conditioning, and unwilling to consider the very existence of phenomenon attributable to events outside the physical world, is it any wonder to find our intuitive selves denied, doubted, suppressed or discarded. Our intuition’s natural communication channels have, for many of us, dried up and become sealed over. Those messages that do get through tend to go unheard or be totally ignored.
Fortunately, not only is your intuitive self a natural and inherent part of you, it remains within you, waiting only to be reawakened and engaged. With this powerful part of yourself empowered once again as your greatest ally, your life will be full of reward, revelation, and happiness. When you empower this hidden side of yourself and learn to listen to its call, there is absolutely nothing that remains impossible. For your intuitive self is literally in touch with the divine and dances to the highest vibrations of the universe.
The Intuition Zone program provides the step-by-step exercises, techniques, and guided meditations that will allow you to reopen communications with your intuitive self, making it the partner and ally it was meant to be in your life.
